Offsite Revolution at Swansea University: Andy King Wernick Buildings
Wernick delivered their second modular building, called ‘Y Twyni’ at Swansea University’s Bay Campus in late 2019. This project is discussed as a case study to demonstrate the benefits of offsite construction covering; speed of build, sustainability and environmental performance, plus BIM and digital design. Counteracting the myth that modular buildings have limited depth for contemporary design, this building has many attractive architectural features including large open-plan lecture areas, curtain walling, and attractive rain screen cladding on the building’s exterior.
