How can school design support the health and wellbeing of pupils and teachers in the post-Covid world?

Architecture plays an important role, not only in supporting basic hygiene, health and safety, but also the marked improvement it can have on wellbeing and mental health. The built environment can help educators to guide generations of children to grow up happy and achieve their potential. Wellbeing should mean flourishing.

Following their online roundtable earlier in May, Helen Taylor of Scott Brownrigg and Sharon Wright of The Learning Crowd, co-editors of the recent RIBA “Urban Schools” publication, will present their ideas on the opportunities, value and importance of the school environment on supporting wellbeing, and how it can be written into the brief and embedded into existing and new schools.
