Dr Greg Mannion is a Senior Lecturer in Education in the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Stirling, Scotland. For over 20 years, his educational research has brought together theory and empirical perspectives on how different kinds of places provide contexts for learning, environmental and sustainability education, rights-based education, and intergenerational practices. Funders have included ESRC, Medical Research Council, numerous charities, Scottish Natural Heritage, RSPB, Children and Young People’s Commissioner Scotland, Education Scotland. Currently he lectures on teacher education programmes and supervises seven doctoral projects (mostly funded) that address, citizen science and civic ecology in schooling, visual literacy in the curriculum, place-responsive curriculum planning, and pupils’ outdoor activity levels in secondary schools.
