Acland Burghley School
Nicholas John is Headteacher at Acland Burghley School, a mixed community comprehensive in London, serving 1100 students aged 11-18. It forms part of the LaSWAP sixth form consortium with four neighbouring schools.
He trained as an English teacher at Canterbury Christ Church University College in 1998-9. He then worked for 10 years in 3 different comprehensive schools in Norfolk, spending 5 years as Head of English at Great Yarmouth High School. In 2009, he joined St Paul’s Way Trust (then Community) School in Tower Hamlets as Deputy and then Associate Headteacher, where he played a leading role in a vibrant period of school renewal.
Since 2015, he has been Headteacher at Acland Burghley School in Camden, where Ofsted described leadership and management as ‘outstanding’ in March 2018. He is committed to promoting high quality comprehensive, community based and inclusive education.
