Patrick Hanfling has worked in the fields of community engagement and development for over 20 years. In Auckland, New Zealand he led the development of the Council’s Youth Policy and developed the engagement programme with young people. In Bolton he worked on a Regeneration Programme leading work on areas such as Community Radio. At Manchester City Council he developed the Council’s first community engagement strategy and led new initiatives such as participatory budgeting. He has worked on the Age-friendly Manchester programme on Intergenerational and Age-friendly work, including working with the Beth Johnson Foundation across the UK and Europe. In his neighbourhood role he works to improve the quality of life for people in Hulme and Ardwick. This includes work such as developing community festivals, climate change initiatives, nature based solutions and community led activity.
