Biography

Associate Professor Paul Ring joined the University in September 2005 and is Head of Subject for Architecture within the Dept. of Architecture & Built Environment. He is the author of the BA(Hons) and Pg Cert Interior Architecture programmes and was formerly the Faculty of Engineering & Environment’s Director of Review, Approvals and Academic Portfolio. His specialism is within creative reuse and building adaptation. Paul continues to focus his research and academic practice on the authenticity of the adapted interior and building reuse and is an Institutional Lead for a Partnership with the National Trust.

Paul worked as an interior designer and developed a broad portfolio of work whilst at practice with PHD Design in Glasgow. He was awarded Scottish Interior Designer of the Year 1997 and is a founding member of Transit, a multi-disciplinary art and architecture group which he formed whilst in Manchester. The groups’ portfolio of work has been broad ranging, covering architectural competitions and urban intervention, interior design, furniture, installation art and research.
