Ronald Macintyre

Online Learning Consultant

Rough Bounds and The Open University

Biography

Ronald has worked in Education for over 20 years, mostly in Higher Education but with extensive experience of supporting learning in the Private, Public and Third Sector. He got into online learning by accident because he “knew about computers”, dabbling with online learning until he started with the Open University in 2005. The OU changed it from a side interest to his primary focus, in particular, encouraging him to think about questions of social justice and equity and how to do online learning at scale. He worked on the Scottish Government programme to support online work-based learning and providing cross-sectoral strategic support to organisations exploring the development of open and online learning. Now an independent consultant Ronald supports a range of organisations at a strategic and operational level to think through the implications of moving to learn online.
